Matchday 4 was a week that reshuffled the top of the table. Pirates are unbeaten in four. Sundowns are level with them on ten points after a five-goal statement at Loftus. Chiefs dropped their first points of the season. Durban City scored from open play for the first time. Victor Letsoalo is running away with the Golden Boot.
Marumo Gallants 2–3 TS Galaxy FC
Msindisi Kunene gave Gallants the perfect start inside four minutes, finishing from the centre of the box. It was false hope. Victor Letsoalo equalised on 21 minutes, Sedwyn George gave Galaxy the lead on 49, and Letsoalo converted a penalty on 60 to make it 3-1. Onke Moletshe pulled one back on 74 to set up a tense finish, but Galaxy held on for a first league win of the season.
Letsoalo was the story: two goals, a 9.0 rating, and a performance that takes him to four league goals — outright Golden Boot leader at this point. Gallants' xG of 0.76 against Galaxy's 1.42 reflected the territory: Gallants had more shots but created nothing of genuine quality. For Phuti Mohafe's side, four matches without a win. Galaxy: First Win
Kruger United 0–2 Durban City
Jean Lwamba headed in from close range in the 7th minute and Gastón Sirino added the second on 50 — and that was enough for Durban City to claim three points they have been chasing all season. The result was not a dominant performance: xG was almost level (1.72 to 1.65), Kruger had 20 shots and three big chances. They missed all three. Durban's xGOT was 2.13 to Kruger's 0.50 — that gap tells you everything about the quality of finishing on the night.
For Khalil Ben Youssef, the dam has finally broken: Durban City's first open-play goals of the season and a first league win. For Abram Mongoya's Kruger, one point from four matches and a fixture list that is not getting easier. Durban City: First Win
Siwelele FC 1–1 Chippa United
Azola Matrose gave Chippa the lead on 52 minutes from the only shot on target they produced in the first hour. Siwelele had 14 shots and an xG of 0.55 against Chippa's 0.13. Yandisa Mfolozi equalised on 75. A point each, and neither side particularly pleased about it. Siwelele are without a win in four, Chippa without a win in four. The race to avoid the drop is crowded and getting tighter. Both still winless
Orlando Pirates 2–0 Sekhukhune United
Sekhukhune had more shots (13 to 10), more box touches (25 to 16), and a higher xG (1.13 to 1.02). They lost 2-0 at the Orlando Amstel Arena. This is what Orlando Pirates look like at their best: clinical going forward, resolute at the back, and with a goalkeeper who makes it extremely difficult for anyone to beat them. Sipho Chaine made six saves and rated 8.8 — the match's standout performer.
Boitumelo Radiopane broke the deadlock on 36 minutes with an audacious strike from a difficult angle, assisted by Kamogelo Sebelebele. Oswin Appollis made it 2-0 on 62 minutes, Radiopane returning the favour with the assist. Sekhukhune coach Cedric Kaze was sent to the stands on 82 minutes. Two big chances for Sekhukhune, both spurned. Pirates: 10 points from 4
Golden Arrows 1–0 Stellenbosch FC
Three draws, zero goals, zero wins. That was the Golden Arrows story heading into Wednesday. Sede Dion — on as a 62nd-minute substitute — changed it with a header from a Philani Kumalo cross on 70 minutes. The goal registered an xG of 0.64: a genuine, high-quality chance taken clinically. Abafana Bes'thende had the better of the game throughout: 58% possession, an xG of 1.52, and three big chances created. They missed two, but the one that counted was enough.
Quwan Plaatjies started for Stellenbosch and was taken off at half-time. Gavin Hunt could not find an equaliser despite Stellenbosch's late pressure — Thakasani Mbanjwa made three saves to protect the lead. Arrows are into the top six on six points and, quietly, one of the most difficult sides to beat in the division. Arrows: First Win
Mamelodi Sundowns 5–2 AmaZulu FC
The match of the matchday and the most emphatic result of the season so far. Brayan Léon opened on 25 minutes, a right-footed strike to the top right corner. Teboho Mokoena curled a free kick into the top right on 32. A 2-0 half-time lead. Thando Ngwenya halved the deficit immediately after the interval on 46 — his fourth league goal — but Tashreeq Matthews restored the two-goal cushion on 51 minutes with a finish to the top left corner. Léon's second on 66 made it 4-1. Ngwenya scored again on 70 to give AmaZulu some respectability. Bennet Mokoena, on for 17 minutes, added the fifth at 90+1.
Matthews was the best player on the pitch: one goal, two assists, a 9.3 rating. He created the clearest chances and gave AmaZulu's defensive shape no time to settle. The xG — 2.72 to 0.38 — reflects complete Sundowns dominance. For AmaZulu, four players rated below 5.0: Taariq Fielies (4.8), Sandile Mthethwa (4.6), Wilfried Kouassi (4.6), Riaan Hanamub (4.5). A defensive capitulation on the biggest night of the season. Ngwenya's brace takes him to five league goals — outright Golden Boot leader — but the headline belongs to Sundowns. Sundowns: 10 points from 4
Polokwane City 0–0 Milford FC
Milford FC had 66% possession and 16 shots at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. They could not score. Polokwane City — Rise and Shine — had six shots and were generally second best across 90 minutes, but goalkeeper Ayanda Ngwenya and a disciplined defensive shape kept a clean sheet. Siphamandla Hleza made three saves for Milford. A draw that suits neither: Polokwane stay stuck on five points, Milford drop two they needed to build further on their fine early-season form. Milford: 7pts from 4
Richards Bay 2–2 Kaizer Chiefs
This was the result of the week for Fernando da Cruz — and not in the way he wanted. Kaizer Chiefs had 72% possession, 20 shots, 27 box touches, and an xG of 2.28. They left Princess Magogo with one point. Nqaba Xulu scored twice — a close-range right-footed finish on 8 minutes (xG 0.98) and a header from a corner on 39 — and was the best player on the pitch at 8.7. Chiefs equalised through a Lebohang Maboe penalty on 19 after a handball, but trailed again at half-time.
Siphesihle Ndlovu, rated 8.4, levelled on 77 minutes with a right-footed finish to the top left corner. Chiefs pushed for a winner and could not find it. Brandon Petersen rated 5.1 for Richards Bay — the weakest link in a team that somehow held on. Da Cruz's side drop to third on eight points, their first dropped points of the campaign. Xulu now has three league goals. Richards Bay — unbeaten against a top-three side — have more than a point to show from this week. Chiefs: 8pts from 4
